You Like It Greener? A Guide to an Eco-Friendly Prague Stag Do

Yep, stag dos have that reputation: a bunch of lads rolling into a city (actually, many bunches, to be precise), partying hard, not looking right or left, and not really thinking about the impact their weekend has on the city or the planet. But times are changing, and we know you’re not like that. You don’t have to tie yourself to a palm tree in a rainforest to show you care about the environment. It’s about the little things when you go about your day-to-day life partying. That’s exactly why we’ve put this article together. Consider it your guide to a green-ish stag do in Prague.

Eco mindset: on!

Let us put you at ease right away. Doing your best to plan an eco-friendly stag do in Prague does not mean less fun, in any shape or form. Prague is actually a very easy city to practise eco-conscious choices.

It has a compact city centre, excellent public transport, a strong local food scene, and plenty of unique, genuinely local experiences. You’ll feel everything but restricted if you decide to be a bit more responsible this time with your lads.

This guide shows you how to plan a stag party in Prague that starts with conscious travel decisions, supports local businesses, avoids unnecessary waste and noise and still delivers everything a stag weekend should. What to do at such weekends you ask? Great food, quality drinks and memorable activities leading to stories worth telling. Eco here isn’t a compromise in Prague. It’s an upgrade.

Make the journey the destination

Start with your travel choices. From many countries, you can get to Prague by bus or train. Or even by car! Environment-wise, any of these options will beat flying. Walking would be cool too but you’d probably miss most of your planned activities.

For buses, check out FlixBus (a true European classic) or RegioJet, a Czech company with solid connections across Europe (they also run trains). When it comes to trains, your national railway company is usually the best place to start. If it were up to us, we’d say a thousand times yes to travelling by train.

Book a whole compartment, get cosy, load up on snacks and beers (on the way home we recommend Staropramen), claim the table and off you go. You can even consider a sleeper train. Coming from Amsterdam, for example, you can book your journey with České dráhy, change once in Berlin, and the trip to Prague will take less than 12 hours. No airport fuss, just a proper ride for under €80.

If you do need to fly for whatever reason, that’s OK. We’re not a sect that’s going to punish you for it. You can start thinking eco once you land, the choices you make on the ground still matter. Maybe begin right at the airport and take public transport to your hotel. Too much? OK, we get it. We can pick you up instead. One shared car is still better than everyone going separately. (We’ll make up a good excuse for you. No worries.)

Eco-friendly accommodation is a thing!

This one almost comes for free. Not the price tag but the good you’re doing for the planet. Choose an eco-friendly place to stay and voilà: your first good deed is done.

Eco-conscious accommodation usually means energy-efficient buildings, water-saving systems, waste sorting, and reduced plastics. Often a quieter location, too.

Eco-friendly stays in Prague worth checking out:

  • Mosaic House Design Hotel – one of Prague’s best-known eco hotels
  • Hotel Josef – a strong focus on sustainability with great design
Hotel Botanique Prague – eco-conscious daily operations, cooperation with local suppliers, excellent access to public transport
  • Private apartments from local hosts – support locals and reduce the footprint of big hotel chains (we can give you some recommendations)

Good to know: On Booking.com, you can filter by “Sustainability certification” and explore eco-friendly options yourself.

Moving around Prague like an eco-pro

OK, you’ve made it to Prague, settled into your place, and now it’s time to explore. So how do you get around in a more responsible way? Good news: Prague is compact, so walking should always be your default option. When you need to go a bit further, public transport has you covered. Or hop on an e-bike instead of taking a taxi or van. Try the Rekola app: the local pink bikes are an easy, convenient way to move around the city. We’ve also put together a detailed guide on navigating Prague’s public transport, so if you want to dive deeper, check it out here.

You can drink and eat consciously too

Eco-friendly dining is big in Prague. You can genuinely savour one of the best meals of your life and do something decent for the planet at the same time. Nothing exaggerated, nothing radical, just small choices that add up.

And like any Czech would, let’s start with coffee. After a big night, everyone wants coffee. But instead of grabbing it in a rush, sit down. Drink it properly. Be there for a moment. No takeaway cups, no rushing through it, no extra waste. It’s a slower start to the day and a much better one.

Zero-waste & sustainable cafés worth a stop:

  • Minimum Waste – a zero-waste café and shop
Why visit: pioneers in the field, excellent coffee, and no disposable packaging.
  • LAB Space (Náplavka)
Why visit: a community-focused spot right by the river, ideal before or after any Prague river activity.

Once you’re properly caffeinated, let’s move on to full-on dining. Prague is a heaven for foodies, and farm-to-table restaurants are a big thing here. These places focus on local, seasonal ingredients sourced directly from Czech farmers and producers.

Great Prague examples:

  • Eska Restaurant – modern Czech farm-to-table cuisine, local ingredients, fermentation, and strong zero-waste principles.
  • Kantýna – meat-focused, sourcing from Czech farms, and living proof that sustainable food doesn’t mean giving up steak.

Nice to combine with morning farmers’ markets at Náplavka: local food, minimal packaging, relaxed vibes. Go check it out every Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM.

As for drinking… there’s only so much you can optimise. With beer prices in Prague still being pretty affordable, you’ll probably have one after another and not overthink consumption too much. And if you’re lucky, you might even stumble upon topless waitresses in some Prague bars. They’re not spending money on fast fashion at least, let’s call that an eco win.

You can have low-impact fun too

Not on your brain cells, those will be having a great time, but on the environment. And yes, it’s absolutely possible. These are our top picks for sustainable activities that still deliver loads of fun:

Think river activities like beer boats or pedal boats: social, scenic, and far less chaotic than roaming the streets in a big group. A beer boat with controlled capacity keeps things relaxed, contained, and easy on the city.

When it comes to beer (and this is the Czech Republic), consider beer tastings in Prague instead of loud Prague pub crawls. Czech beer needs no introduction, and a tasting lets you actually enjoy it: slower, better, and with zero unnecessary noise.

For something different, try walking-based city experiences like Pragulic. These socially responsible tours are guided by people with lived experience of homelessness or social exclusion, making it a zero-emission activity with real social impact. Memorable in all the right ways.

And if you’re after sporty fun, we offer plenty of outdoor options like white water rafting Prague, archery, or even something a bit crazy like bubble football party or binocular football. All organised, contained, and easy to manage responsibly.

A conclusion loaded with bonuses

If you’ve got a bit of time before catching your train or flight, slow things down with a final green detour: a park stroll or a calm wander around Toulcův dvůr is an easy, low-key reset without leaving the city.

And remember: it’s not only about what you did here, but what you take home. Skip plastic magnets and tourist junk and bring back something Czech and handmade instead. Glass or ceramics from Křehký Prague, handmade cups from Lavmi ceramics, or local design and food finds from Manifesto Market.

Bottom line? Eco doesn’t ruin a stag do, it upgrades it. Want help making smart, eco-friendly choices? Let us know and we’ll help you plan the greenest stag do of them all.
