Plan ahead (like, really ahead)
The answer to when is the best time to book is pretty straightforward: the sooner, the better. A general rule of thumb is to start planning at least three months in advance, especially if you’re aiming for the prime stag do season, which typically runs from April through September here in Prague. It might seem crazy to start planning months ahead, but it’s nothing compared to the chaos of wedding planning, trust us. If you’re looking to celebrate in the fall or winter, reaching out to agencies like ours or booking things on your own about a month ahead should work just fine. What should you keep in mind?
Key things to reflect as a stag do planner
Seasonality
After the engagement, there’s usually a year before the big day. That gives you a lot of manoeuvring space, as there’s no strict rule on how long before the wedding stag party should take place. Take advantage of this; you can snag some sweet deals on accommodation when you decide to come off-season, which, again, typically starts in September here in Prague. And, of course, you can then invest the savings in something else, preferably booze and fun. 😀
Also, think about what activities the group enjoys. Are you all more outdoorsy, or do you prefer staying indoors? Summer stag dos are ideal for getting out there. You’ll want it to be nice and sunny for whitewater rafting in Prague, beer boat, or outdoor paintball.
In the winter, you can test your aim at a shooting range in Prague, have your breath taken away in Goldfingers—a strip club in Prague and one of the best strip clubs in Europe—combined with a good old pub crawl in Prague (just bring a beanie for moving from bar to bar).
Availability of the group
This one is crucial. You want to ensure that all of the key attendees are available. Not sure who to invite? Check here. Save yourself the hassle of back-and-forth calls trying to figure out which dates work best for everyone. You can knock the item of “coordinate schedules” off your list pretty quickly, for example, by utilising this nifty tool called Doodle. Simply put in the dates you’re considering and let everyone mark their preferred dates. Sorted!
When choosing the final date, we suggest avoiding major holidays like Christmas or New Year’s, as prices skyrocket and tourists overrun the city.
The risks of last-minute planning
Are we sounding like a broken record stressing the importance of early planning? Bear with us! These are the final arguments you need to take it seriously. If you book last minute, you’ll likely:
- get much worse deals on accommodation and activities (sure, we hear you; you might find an excellent last-minute package somewhere, but don’t count on it)
- have limited options for location and dates
- be stressed out, trying to handle everything at once
- miss out on some of our most popular activities, such as Jelly Wrestling, Strip Boat or Hummer Limousine
Okay, we may have scared you a little, but here’s the good news: We’re always here to help and are known for working wonders. If you’re planning a stag do at the last minute and feeling overwhelmed, contact us.
Full refund policies and insurance are the way to go
Worried about losing money by booking so far in advance? Plans can change, so we always recommend choosing places and activities with flexible cancellation policies, ideally offering full refunds. Additionally, adding trip insurance when purchasing tickets can be a wise move. To eliminate any risk of losing money, maintain open communication with the group and double-check that everyone is still on board before making any bookings.
With us, you’ll get a full refund if you cancel at least 30 days before the start of your first booked activity, because we want you to be excited and worry-free before your epic weekend!
The sooner, the better
Let us repeat it again. The sooner you start looking, booking, and talking to agencies, the better. While planning can be overwhelming, doing it right means you and your squad will create unforgettable memories here in Prague or anywhere else.
If you still feel like it’s a bit too much to handle, reach out. We hardly ever put our phones down and can tackle even the most challenging itineraries!
