Why Prague still reigns as a stag do capital

Do you want the best for the stag, yourself, and the lads on your upcoming stag do? Of course you do! That’s probably why you ended up googling “the best city for a stag do 2025.” But then—bam—the results hit you like a hangover. Too many options, no clear winner. Here’s one thing that’s certain though: wherever you look, Prague always makes the top five. Nearly every ranking puts it up there with the best of them. We’ve put this blog together to show you the actual numbers (so you can skip the digging) and see how Prague stacks up against other popular stag do cities. (Spoiler: it’s still the best anyway 😎).

Historically, Prague Was the One

If you hopped into Marty McFly’s DeLorean (yep, Back to the Future style) and traveled back to 2013, and stayed there for, say, six years, you’d see Prague topping most stag do rankings. It’s safe to say Prague is Europe’s stag do legend.

As Praguers ourselves, we don’t really have to wonder why. Once you see and experience the city for yourself, you’ll get it too. And no, it’s definitely not because beer in Prague is among the cheapest in Europe (still around €3 a pint, wink, wink).

It’s also the affordable accommodation (as long as you’re not chasing luxury), the vibrant nightlife, and, most of all, the unique activities you can try here and almost nowhere else. (More on that later.)

The Numbers Today

According to pretty much everyone who’s ever thrown a good party, Prague isn’t just the Czech capital. It’s still the stag do capital. And the numbers back it up: around 19,000 Google searches a year for “stag party,” beer for about €3, and Airbnbs that won’t break the bank.

The StressFreeCarRental.com Index (2023) chimed in, giving Prague top scores for nightlife, over 200 nightclubs in Prague, hotels averaging just €57/night, and a quick 30-minute airport transfer. (Compare that to London, where you’ll drop €170+ a night and spend half your evening stuck on the way from Heathrow.) And to top it all off, several sites crowned Prague #1 yet again — all thanks to its mix of wild nightlife, beautiful architecture, and legendary beer culture that still gives you serious bang for your buck.

New Challengers Are Rising

Sure, Prague’s still killing it — but the competition’s getting louder. According to various reports more than a third of stag groups are now eyeing Spain and Portugal as the new go-to’s instead of the classic Central and Eastern European playgrounds. The sunny south is calling, and the lads are clearly listening.

Benidorm, Lisbon, Tenerife, and Budapest are climbing fast, with bookings and search numbers soaring for 2024–2025, and Benidorm in particular is tipped to become one of the hottest stag destinations of 2025. Looks like the stag compass is starting to tilt south — though Prague’s still got plenty of fire left in the tank.

UK’s Own Stag Capitals Are Booming

And while some lads are chasing the sun, others are keeping it closer to home. Bristol and Liverpool are climbing fast on the stag-do charts, driven by the new wave of domestic travel and good old post-Brexit budgeting. More groups are choosing the convenience of staying in the UK — no airport queues, no passport panic, just pints and plans within reach.

In fact, 58% of all UK stag parties now happen domestically, while searches for “Benidorm stag do” have shot up by over 120% year-on-year — proof that the tug-of-war between home turf and sunny escapes is very real. Whether it’s Bristol beers or Benidorm beaches, the stag crowd clearly knows how to adapt.

Why Prague’s Still on Top (and Not Going Anywhere)

Beyond the new challengers, Prague still stands tall among the classic heavyweights — Amsterdam, Barcelona, Budapest, Lisbon, Benidorm, Rome, and Munich. Why? Because no one else can quite match its mix of affordability, central location, easy flights, and utterly ridiculous stag-only experiences (from driving a tank experience to giant beer pong — yeah, that’s a thing).

Let’s talk numbers. When it comes to beer, Prague wipes the floor with everyone: about €3 per pint. Add the fact that you’re drinking world-class lagers — Pilsner, Budvar, Kozel, Staropramen and a growing army of craft brews — and it’s not even a fair fight. In fact, beer in Prague costs less than water in some European capitals.

Accommodation? Same story. Hotels from €57/night, Airbnbs around €70. Getting around is just as easy on the wallet too — airport taxi for about €25, 30 minutes to city center, or €5 for a 24-hour public transport ticket. Try that in London and you’ll spend half your day (and your budget) in traffic.

And because Prague sits right in the heart of Europe, flights are short and cheap from just about anywhere — Berlin, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, London — all under two hours. Perfect for international squads flying in from different corners of Europe.

Top it off with countless Prague bars and clubs, a lineup of wild stag activities (from firing AK-47 at a Prague shooting range to Prague river cruises), and a historic cityscape straight out of a fairytale — and it’s easy to see why the city of a hundred spires still wears the crown.

Book the tickets

Even if you don’t take our word for it, plenty of sources confirm that Prague is still holding its own among Europe’s top stag-do destinations. It may no longer be the undisputed number one, but booking your unforgettable weekend here is definitely no mistake.

You’ll also get a serious bang for your buck. Prague remains an affordable city packed with everything you could want for a legendary stag do — from a buzzing bar scene to actual tanks waiting in hangars for you to climb aboard.
